Ruby gem that validates EU and UK VAT numbers, standalone or as an ActiveModel validator.
What it does
Validates European VAT numbers by syntax, checksum and a VIES lookup, returning true or false or the company name and address, standalone or as an ActiveModel validator. It is a Ruby gem for Ruby 3.2 or later and JRuby. UK lookups need HMRC Developer Hub credentials, the checksum check is marked experimental and may return wrong results, and VIES is sometimes down for maintenance.
