Python script that works out cost basis for VMware shares after the Broadcom merger from E*TRADE exports.
What it does
Python script that reads an E*TRADE Gains and Losses CSV and, for each VMware lot (ESPP, RSU, NSO or brokerage purchase), works out the cost basis of the merger cash and the converted AVGO shares, plus fractional shares and a summary, as text and CSV. Needs Python 3 and two share counts from the year-end statement. US holders only; the author is not a tax professional; non-commercial use only.
