py1040
Python program that computes US federal Form 1040 income tax from an interview and an input form.
What it does
Computes one individual's US federal income tax, Form 1040, from an interview file and an input form filled in from W-2s and the like, and prints the line-by-line calculation. It runs with Python 3 and make, pulling form definitions from the companion 1040.js project. The README says it is a calculator, not an adviser, that Schedules C and F are missing, and that there is no warranty (GPL-2.0).
Where it fits on the map
Not on the map: for individual taxpayers.
The map places maintained projects for a company tax department or a tax authority, without a demo or paid-service flag. Everything else stays on the list with its label.
