What it does

Open standard for connecting AI applications to external systems (files, databases, tools and workflows) through servers that expose them and clients inside the AI application. Official SDKs exist for TypeScript, Python, C#, Go, Rust, Ruby, Java, Swift, PHP and Kotlin, for developers building or integrating AI agents. It is an LF Projects, LLC project; code and specification are under Apache 2.0.
